After spending a lifetime observing people, systems, ambition, conflict, relationships, discipline, emotions, morality, success, failure, and human behaviour, I think I have finally found the description that feels closest to who I truly am.

An ASOL - A Student Of Life. Interestingly, this acronym also sounds like: “A Soul.” And perhaps that is what we really are — souls moving through life, learning through observation, experience, suffering, mistakes, curiosity, attachment, ambition, love, ego, conflict, and time.

But then again, there may be many out there who hear the same word differently.

To them, ASOL may sound like something far less spiritual. And perhaps that too is life.

The same thing - different perceptions.

The same person - different interpretations.

The same intention - different conclusions.

The more I observe the world, the more I realize that peace may not lie in controlling how people perceive us, but in learning how to live with the fact that perceptions will always differ. Maybe that is one of the biggest lessons life teaches us.

I do not reject labels like philosopher, strategist, mentor, teacher, or seeker. Truthfully, over the course of life, I have probably been all of them at different moments.

But if I have to choose the one identity that feels most accurate to me today, it would simply be this: A Student Of Life (ASOL); because there is still so much to learn.
