Giving Wellbeing a Place in My Day

How do I turn the wish to live well into something I actually practise?

DIMENSION OF WELLBEING

A Sol

I can spend considerable time thinking about what I wish to accomplish. But what place does my own wellbeing have in those plans?

Peace, Happiness, Quality of Life and Longevity are my stated aspirations. If they matter to me, they must find some expression in how I live an ordinary day.

What time do I go to sleep? Do I make room for movement? How do I eat? When do I pause? How much of my attention do I surrender to things that leave me restless?

These questions bring a large ambition down to a manageable scale.

I would like to begin by observing my present routine honestly. There is little use designing an impressive timetable that bears no relationship to my habits, circumstances or willingness to follow it.

Then I can choose a small change and give it a place in my day. Once it becomes reasonably familiar, I can build on it.

There will be interruptions. Some days will go well; others will reveal how easily an intention slips away. I would like to learn from both without turning every lapse into a judgement about myself.

For now, my question is simple: what can I do today that gives wellbeing a little more space in my life?

The answer must eventually show up in my routine.
