LIFE – What Am I Doing With the Time I Have?
If everything I do is a way of killing time, does it matter how I kill it? To the universe, perhaps very little. To me, it makes all the difference. The way I spend my time is the way I experience my life.
In my first post, I called life a gift from the Unknown. I do not know how much time I have, but I can ask myself a question about the time I have today: What am I doing with it?
I use the phrase killing time deliberately. Seeing my activities this way has brought me a great deal of peace. I can take my work seriously and still see it for what it is: one of the ways I have chosen to spend part of my life. That thought takes some pressure off. It also makes me look more closely at what I keep giving my time to.
Take an ordinary morning. I could go for a walk or sit down and get some work done. Both make sense to me. But if I keep postponing the walk because there is always one more thing to finish, then over time I am making a choice about my wellbeing, even if I never meant to. I find it useful to notice choices like that. They tell me more about what I am giving priority to than any list I might write.
There are also hours I am glad to spend in ways that leave me with very little to show for them
