This Is the Life I Know
Why I choose to direct my attention towards the life I know I am living.
MY BELIEFS- EXISTENECE AND THE LIFE I KNOW

This Is the Life I Know
Did I live before this birth? Will I live again after death?
I do not know.
I have no knowledge of a previous life on which I can base my decisions. For the same reason, I have chosen not to organise this life around expectations of a future birth.
This present life is the one I know I am experiencing. It is where I can make choices, act, learn, and encounter the consequences.
That is where I wish to give my attention.
I understand that beliefs about rebirth or an afterlife can give people comfort and direction. I do not need to dispute those beliefs to explain my own position.
My decision is to concern myself with the life available to me now.
What do I want from it?
Peace, Happiness, Quality of Life and Longevity.
These aspirations bring me back to ordinary questions. How am I caring for myself? How am I treating other people? Which responsibilities have I accepted? What am I doing with my time?
Living in the present includes preparing for the years ahead. It also includes recognising that my actions can affect people after I am gone. I care about what I leave behind, even though I do not know whether I will personally experience anything beyond this life.
I have already spent many years discovering how difficult it can be to live according to what I believe. Stating a belief does not complete that work.
But it gives me a place to begin.
Whatever may precede or follow this existence, I have a life to attend to here. I intend to give it my care.
